Our Story

Established in the 1950’s this small family run business started life as a plumbing supply store, but as customers needs have changed we have naturally evolved into the general DIY supplies and ironmongers we are today. Engraving, Key Cutting and Sharpening services, Watch batteries and strap adjusting were added by popular demand and now we also have the well know Rug Doctor for hire. No matter what the weather decides to do The Homecare Centre is a natural barometer for the changing seasons, just look outside the shop door and Russell will have bedding plants displayed as Spring arrives. Then when you see the snow shovels and sledges hanging up you can be sure it is time to unpack your winter woollies. Russell, John and Derek have a warm and friendly welcome for all our customers, providing them with excellent service and advice where needed. Their years of experience and product knowledge means they often know what you want before you do. The Homecare Centre has been part of the local community since the first day it opened it’s doors. For many of our customers it is the personal service that makes the difference, and we wouldn’t want it any other way. Where else can you go and spend a few pence on nuts and bolt or a few odd size screws and be made to feel so welcome. Come and have a look round, you will be suprised what you find. We are always happy to see new faces and we hope to see yours soon.  

Homecare Centre Bolton Product Range

The above pictures don’t really do the shop justice. Many of our customers have said that it is like coming into an Aladdin’s Cave. As you will see our range of products is quite extensive and as the year changes through the seasons, so the range of products will change as well. Homecare Centre Bolton has a very relaxed atmosphere and when the shop is busy customers who are often neighbours will tell each other of their latest DIY project, exchange tips with each other or simply past the time of day. In addition to our extensive range of products there are a number of services that are available to customers:-

• Engraving Service; where Chefs and cooks get their names engraved on the tools of their profession, pet lovers have tags engraved for their pets, businesses and home owners have signs, plaques and laminates engraved with names numbers and messages.
• Sharpening service; we have many professionals that come for knives, scissors, grooming blades, saws and other tools to be sharpened and re-edged. Domestic customers that have knives, scissors shears and blades sharpened to keep them in pristine condition.
• Key Cutting Service; with hundreds of different types of keys on offer for all kinds or locks, door keys, padlock keys, window keys, mortise keys and even some classic car keys. All the staff have years of experience in the art of key cutting so you know you are in safe hands.
• Watch battery and repair  Service;  watches always have their batteries go flat at the most inopportune moments, but if it is a standard design we should be able to sort for you, if your strap needs replacing or a link needs removing bring it along to us.
• Rug Doctor Hire Service; Hiring the Rug Dr is an economical alternative and the machine is simple to use.
• Car fob and garage door remote control fob batteries; don’t get caught out with a flet battery, there is no need while we are here

As if all of that was not enough we have a variety of  timber lengths suitable for a number of DIY jobs. There is also Calor Gas and Paraffin available for purchase. If while you are here you don’t see what you are looking for please don’t hesitate to ask. We are only too happy to help when needed.
